Meet Brandi Cross!
Brandi is a loyal member of the Huntington YMCA. If you ask her why, she’ll likely tell you it is due to the encouragement she gets through a positive atmosphere and the friendships she has gained.
Looking at Brandi now, one may not realize her journey to a healthy lifestyle began just over two years ago. When Brandi found herself on the verge of some serious health-related issues, she knew it was time for a change.
A few months after completing the 24-day challenge with Advocare, Brandi worked up the courage to join the Y.
“It took me three months of driving to the Y before I had the courage to walk into the Y and sign up for a membership,” said Brandi. “Little did I know that this would be a life changing decision for me.”
Through Advocare and exercise at the Y, Brandi has lost more than 130 pounds and continues to get stronger, leaner, and healthier each day. For Brandi, motivation is the key to staying active and living a healthy lifestyle.
“The main factor that keeps me motivated on a daily basis is knowing how good I feel when I exercise and eat good, healthy foods,” said Brandi. “I no longer compare my fitness level to someone else because we are all at different fitness levels. I work each day to move closer to my goal and feel better for me. Being around other individuals at the Y who have similar beliefs only strengthens my motivation.”
One day as Brandi was driving down the road a thought came to mind. I will never be the perfect weight, I will never be the perfect size, but with the strength of God, I have made it through the perfect storm.
For anyone reading this story, Brandi has some advice for you.
“Set small goals for yourself to achieve. Celebrate the little successes because the little successes will eventually equal a big success.” And as her friend and mentor, Wade Genth, always says, “If it doesn't challenge you, it won’t change you!”
