School of Arts to be Featured with Recitals in Coming Days
The Spring Dance recitals will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 4:00 pm and 6:45 pm featuring two different shows. The recital will be held at the Huntington North High School auditorium with doors opening 30 minutes before each show. Advance tickets are available at the YMCA front desk for $6.00 per show or $9.00 for a super pass which allows guests to attend both shows. Tickets will also be available the day of the show for $8.00 at the door. Both shows will feature students in several dance styles including jazz, pointe, clogging, tap, character, hip hop, contemporary, ballet, and lyrical with the 6:45 pm show also featuring ballroom. The YMCA’s School of Dance boasts over 260 dancers, instruction in ten styles of dance and 38 classes a week.
The YMCA’s School of Music performers will display talents in cello, piano, guitar, viola, and violin through solos, duets and group pieces. The Y School of Music’s spring recital is Monday, May 13 at 6:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 530 Guilford Street, Huntington. Music recital tickets may be purchase on the night of the show for $3.00 per guest with a $10.00 per family maximum. The YMCA School of Music is growing each session and is currently in its 3rd year. The next group music sessions begins in August. Individual summer lessons can be made available if interested.
