Update from Y leadership May, 1, 2020
May 1, 2020
As much are we are looking forward to getting back to our business of serving you, we also carry a heavy responsibility in doing our part to progressively and safely reopen Indiana. Therefore, we will do our part by complying with our state and local health officials’ recommendations. For the most accurate information, please read the details of the “Back on Track Indiana” plan.
According to Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order, gyms and swimming pools are ordered to stay closed until May 25. As ‘Y-People’, you know that we are so much more than a gym and swim. As such, we will be shifting our immediate focus to best serve our community by offering child care for grades k-5 for children of healthcare workers, first responders, and any parents that are being called back to work. Watch our website here and Facebook for an announcement on how to register for child care.
Also, to help our community’s most vulnerable stay safely at home, we will begin offering grocery and essential needs delivery program next week. Watch for information on how to enlist the help of our Y staff as your own “Personal Shopper”.
If you have questions regarding memberships and programs, our phones will continue to be open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11am-1pm.
As mentioned previously, if you stay with us, your membership dues can be considered a charitable donation during this time. If you are interested in receiving a letter acknowledging your contribution for tax purposes, please email email@example.com.
Be sure to register for our newsletter and look for continuous updates, free virtual workouts, and other announcements on our Facebook, Instagram, and Parkview Huntington YMCA website. There are free workouts and fun activities for all age groups. I encourage you to check out our “Social Distancing Challenge” in which you earn points for walking, running, and biking outside.
I thank you, hope you are doing well, and really can’t wait to see you!
