The Parkview Huntington Family YMCA recently had their locker rooms closed for renovation and YMCA leadership would like to thank the grantors who made these upgrades possible.

As a Spring 2019 Cycle I Grant recipient of the Huntington County Community Foundation and a recent recipient of a Mueller-Scherger Foundation award, the YMCA had adequate funds to update all shower hardware in the men’s and women’s locker rooms and painted each of these areas in the more than ten year-old building.

“With over six-thousand members in and out of our building we are seeing many items needing more maintenance and attention in our nearly eleven-year old building.  We are excited for our membership being at an all-time high and we are grateful for the support of the Huntington County Community Foundation and the awarding of the Mueller-Scherger Foundation funds to help us in these necessary upgrades,” stated Todd Latta, YMCA CEO.

During the Spring Cycle I Grant in May 2019, the Huntington County Community Foundation awarded their largest grant cycle in the 28-year history of the organization.  Grants totaled $100,144 to all its recipients with the YMCA receiving one of the grants during this award cycle.

The Mueller-Scherger Foundation was established in 1981 by Alice E. Scherger in honor of her late husband, Harold N. Scherger, and her family, the Muellers. Grants are awarded to not-for-profit organizations in Huntington County as well as Delphos and Van Wert County, in Ohio.  During the spring 2019 awarding, the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA received funds to help underwrite their shower upgrades.

The Parkview Huntington Family YMCA facility is located at 1160 W 500 N, Huntington and opened its new building in November 2008.  If other groups would like information about supporting the YMCA’s efforts of strengthening our community and general support of the organization, contact Todd Latta, CEO at or 260-359-9622.
