Parkview Huntington Family YMCA Preschool wrapped up in May and is now gearing up for the 2025-26 school year set to begin in September. As Y staff reflected on this past school year, we wanted to pass on “thanks” to several groups that supported the early childhood education services at the YMCA during the 2024-25 school year.
Two specific grants which supported literacy, math and social skills included funding from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation and the Everwise Foundation. As we work to assist community children in being prepared for kindergarten and beyond, this additional funding has been vital to our early-education programming focusing on school readiness for enrolled students.
Through the local Classroom Education Grant administered by the Community Foundation of Huntington County, the Kimochis Educator Tool Kit was purchased and provides social/emotional learning lessons for students. The tool kit helps prepare pre-k students by encouraging the achievement of developmental milestones and the building of children’s social/emotional skills.
Additionally, through in-kind donations from Delta Dental Foundation we were able to send students home with activity books and oral health supplies and had a classroom visit from Katie Fusselman, an area dental hygienist to provide us with important dental hygiene education.
We are grateful for the additional grant support for our preschool programming which helps to enhance our services provided to enrolled students. The YMCA offers a variety of morning or afternoon preschool classes for children ages two through age five.
Parkview Huntington Family YMCA is located at 1160 W 500 N, Huntington and in addition to preschool classes, the Y offers day camp services for school-aged kids, summer enrichment and sports camps, various sports programming, swim, dance, gymnastics, theater and music opportunities to Huntington-area youth.
